Susan makes "artefacts," simple structures using everyday things such as boxes, cardboard, hessian, and bamboo skewers. Inspiration comes from engaging with the form and texture of her materials. She works without an idea or aim, discovering what the materials like, what they are willing to do, how far they will go, regularly using techniques such as grids, repetition, and translucence....
