Her aesthetic is influenced by mid-century art following her family's move to Canberra in 1956

Susan Forster lives in Aberystwyth where she completed her MA in Fine Art under the expert supervision of Miranda Whall at the Aberystwyth School of Art. It was here where she met Rob White and Billie Ireland, the creators of NSTK.

Susan makes "artefacts," simple structures using everyday things such as boxes, cardboard, hessian, and bamboo skewers. Inspiration comes from engaging with the form and texture of her materials. She works without an idea or aim, discovering what the materials like, what they are willing to do, how far they will go, regularly using techniques such as grids, repetition, and translucence. The process is "Proustian", forgotten memories arising in response to the work.

Her aesthetic is influenced by mid-century art following her family's move to Canberra in 1956, where her parents worked in architecture and design.

The work has no intrinsic meaning. The viewer's experience is of being in the presence of something that cannot be understood nor reduced by reference to the real world.
